OUR MISSION

To advocate for independently owned brick-and-mortar bridal retailers through public policy, media representation, and consumer education.

We work to protect, promote, and strengthen independent bridal retail while ensuring the businesses serving brides in communities across America have a collective voice.

WHY NBRA EXISTS

For decades, independent bridal retailers have been an essential part of the wedding industry.

We help brides navigate one of the most meaningful purchases of their lives.

We employ people in our communities.

We support designers and manufacturers.

We invest in local economies.

We provide expertise, service, alterations guidance, styling, reassurance, and an experience that cannot simply be placed inside a shipping box.

Yet when policies are written, industry issues reach the media, or consumers receive misleading information about bridal retail, the voice of the independent bridal retailer can easily be overlooked.

NBRA exists to change that.

One store speaking alone may have limited reach.

Hundreds—and eventually thousands—of retailers speaking together create something very different:

A national voice for independent bridal retail.

OUR THREE PILLARS

01 | PUBLIC POLICY

Advocacy that protects independent bridal retail.

From tariffs and international trade to legislation and regulations affecting small businesses, government decisions can have unintended consequences for bridal retailers.

NBRA works to:

  • Monitor public-policy issues affecting bridal retailers

  • Educate members about potential impacts

  • Communicate the retail perspective to policymakers and industry stakeholders

  • Mobilize retailers when our collective voice is needed

  • Advocate for policies that support healthy independent bridal businesses

Our goal is simple: make sure bridal retailers are part of the conversation.

02 | MEDIA REPRESENTATION

Making sure our industry's story is accurately told.

Bridal retail stories can quickly become national stories.

Supply-chain disruptions. Tariffs. Store closures. Wedding trends. Consumer concerns. Changes throughout the wedding industry.

When journalists need perspective, NBRA works to ensure independent bridal retailers are represented.

We provide industry context, retailer perspectives, talking points, press resources, and communications support that help our industry respond with a credible and unified voice.

We aren't simply responding to the narrative.

We're helping shape it.

03 | CONSUMER EDUCATION

Helping brides understand the value of shopping local bridal.

Buying a wedding gown isn't the same as buying an ordinary piece of clothing.

Independent bridal retailers provide professional guidance, fit expertise, trusted designer relationships, knowledgeable stylists, curated selections, personalized service, and support throughout one of life's most meaningful purchases.

NBRA works to help consumers understand those differences.

Through education and public awareness, we champion reputable independent bridal retailers and encourage brides to experience the expertise and service available in their local bridal stores.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Independent Bridal Retail Matters.

Local bridal stores are an essential part of the wedding ecosystem and the communities they serve.

Retailers Deserve Representation.

Issues affecting our businesses should not be discussed without the perspective of the retailers experiencing them.

Consumers Deserve Accurate Information.

Brides should understand the benefits—and potential risks—associated with where and how they purchase their wedding gowns.

Collaboration Makes Our Industry Stronger.

Retailers, designers, manufacturers, wedding professionals, policymakers, and media organizations all benefit from a healthy bridal-retail ecosystem.

Our Collective Voice Is More Powerful Than Any One Store.

The larger our membership becomes, the greater our ability to represent independent bridal retail.

FROM REACTION TO REPRESENTATION

The bridal industry changes quickly.

Economic conditions change.

Trade policies change.

Consumer behavior changes.

Technology changes.

Media narratives change.

NBRA gives independent bridal retailers an organization capable of watching those changes, communicating their impact, and advocating when action is needed.

Rather than individual stores trying to navigate every issue alone, NBRA creates a platform through which our industry can respond together.

AN ASSOCIATION POWERED BY RETAILERS

NBRA isn't an outside organization trying to understand bridal retail.

It is a trade association created to represent the people doing the work every day.

Independent bridal store owners bring their experience, concerns, expertise, and perspectives to NBRA. Those voices help determine the issues we address and the initiatives we pursue.

Our members don't simply belong to NBRA.

Our members ARE NBRA.
